    Getting To Mae Sot
Mae Sot is a small town in the northwest of Thailand close to the Thai-Burma border.
At the moment there is no flight between Bangkok and Mae Sot. There are day and night buses to and from Chiang Mai and Bangkok. The main travel guides have basic information about the town which is small but lively with a number of non-governmental organisations and volunteers based here and backpackers passing through on the way to Umphang.

Bangkok stopover?
If you need to spend some time in Bangkok we would suggest:
  1. Comfort Inn Suites- very close to airport with free shuttle bus. Around 700 baht per night. Contact representative in the airport.
  2. My House Hotel. This hotel (with no lift) is closer to the centre of Bangkok and on the BTS Skytrain line. You need to take a taxi there from the airport. Address is 14 Soi Aree 1, Phahonyothin 7, Bangkok 10400. Tel:02 278 1390. Cost 560 baht per night.
  3. Alternatively head for the backpacker area - the Khao San Rd- in all Thailand guidebooks.
